We are an ANGLICAN CHURCH (Church of England)
that seeks to be...
CATHOLIC in the way we express our faith.
CHARISMATIC in seeking to be gifted by the Holy Spirit
CONTEMPORARY in our style of worship
COMMITTED to exploring God's word in the scriptures
CONCERNED to share the healing love of Christ with all.
The Reverend Denis Bradshaw
Father Denis served his 'title' at St. Martin's, Ruislip (Diocese of London) 1980-1984.
He served a 'second curacy' at St. Barnabas, Northolt Park (Diocese of London) from 1984-1986.
In October 1986 he became Parish Priest of St. Joseph the Worker, Northolt (Diocese of London) a church which became famous for its Anglo Catholic and Charismatic worship - where he remained until 2001 when he was appointed Parish Priest of St. John the Divine, Kennington (Diocese of Southwark) a large multi-cultral parish in South London.
Father Denis has been our Parish Priest here at St. Edward's since 13th March 2009.
Our main focus together as a Parish Family has been in the renewal of our worship. While remaining firmly in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England, our worship has been greatly influenced by the Charsmatic Renewal movement. Within liturgy and 'order' there is an openess to the Holy Spirit to enable the worshipper to draw close to God.
Our 'main' worship centres around the Parish Mass on Sundays at 10.00 a.m. While this service has a very contemporrary feel about it, it is enhanced with incense, vestments and ceremonial, so that our worship is not only 'Charismatic' in style but also reaches back to the earlest forms of Christian worship.
The Ministry of Prayer for Healing and Wholeness is a ministry that we are growing in and we have expereinced the healing power and grace of the Holy Spirit at work among us in a very powerful way.
The Ministry of Healing is offered EVERY SUNDAY during the time of Holy Communion at the Parish Mass at 10.00 a.m.
and on the first Sunday of the month during Prayer & Praise at 6.00 p.m.
The Ministry of Prayer for Healing and Wholeness is also available during weekday Masses on request.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is also available by appointment with the Parish Priest.
Prayer & Praise is our monthly informal worship every first Sunday of the month at 6.00 p.m. This service was started in 2012 and although rather small in number (about 25) we have seen growth both numerically and spiritually. This service is without liturgy (although inevitably a pattern has emerged!) and always ends with Benediction.
Walsingham: St. Edward's has for many years organised Parish Pilgrimages to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk. In recent years, we have joined with the Anglo Catholic Charismatic Celebration which meets at Walsingham in mid-August. (In 2015 Monday 10th - Friday 14th August) St. Edward's plays a significant role in this celebration and Father Denis organises and presides at the Eucharistic worship and acts as the celebration's chaplin.
Although St. Edward's is a 'small' church you can be assured of receiving a very BIG and warm WELCOME!
Come along on any Sunday morning at 10.00 a.m. or on any first Sunday of the month at 6.00 p.m. You would be welcomed - but not smothered - and we just know you would want to return!
